Darya and Cindi were senior editors who previously worked together at a large publishing company. After about a year of working for this company, we decided that we wanted to be able to spend more time on each job and have more control over how we worked. In many publishing houses, the focus can be on speed and volume, not on quality.
In house, we managed about thirty editors between the two of us. It was crazy. So we decided to break out on our own and offer the kind of editing services that we wanted to. We hope to have so many clients that we can bring in some of our previous freelancers, but the focus of Coastal Editing will never be on volume and speed; it will always be on quality and personal attention.
While having two very different backgrounds, together we bring years of publishing, and life experience to the table. We hope we can be of service to you in whatever your editing needs are. Drop us a line with any questions you might have. We'd be happy to help.
Cindi is a published author and has worked in the publishing industry for sixteen years, both in-house and as a freelancer. She started her career as a journalist and worked for a year covering the beat before moving on to book publishing. She started as an editorial assistant at Globe Pequot Press and worked her way up to associate editor before leaving to have her first daughter. She then continued on with Globe Pequot as a freelance project manager while building her freelance clientele. She owned and operated Pietrzyk Publishing for eleven years and in that capacity, worked as project manager, copy editor, proofreader, and writer. Coastal Editing is her next venture in which she hopes to expand her services and help others realize their dreams of being published. Darya is a published author and has enjoyed editing and writing for many years. Her educational background is in the sciences, majoring in biology in college. Within this discipline, she naturally gravitated toward editing many of the biological protocols and papers generated by her research group. Her keen eye for detail and endless love for written perfection drove her to leave a career in biology to pursue a new career in writing and editing.
Writing has always been an integral part of her life and she always manages to have something in progress. She has written short stories, children's books, and even TV sitcom scripts. Coastal Editing is an exciting venture where she will be able to provide the personal editing service she knows her clients yearn for. Currently, she lives in California, has just finished writing a children's book, and is working on a fictional novella.
